DLSU was given last school year (SY 2000-2001) a grant by the Department of Science and Technology to avail of databases in the fields of Engineering and Applied Sciences. At the same time, a second grant was given by the United States Information Service to avail of a database called Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature. This database focuses on general interests in the US history and American culture.
It was also decided that since, the Library has just started it's American Studies Resource Center, it would be practical to subscribe to on-line databases instead of investing in hard copy references which occupy too much space.
